The Law Society of Scotland Education Foundation:聽Bursary Award

Overview

is committed to supporting talented young people who have the potential to benefit from, and contribute to, the legal profession.

The aim is to ensure that, if you have drive and talent, money will not be a barrier to becoming a solicitor in Scotland. gives priority to individuals from less-advantaged backgrounds, so your social and economic situation will be taken into consideration.

The bursary covers each year of the LLB degree and postgraduate Diploma. The awards may vary but can be approximately 拢2,750 per year, totalling up to 拢13,750 by completion of your qualifications.聽Being supported by a mentor working in the legal profession is also part of the award.

As well as the bursary and mentoring, this is a career development programme. All successful applicants are expected to participate in a programme of career-enhancing events throughout the year.

Eligibility

聽In order to be eligible to apply, you need to be able to answer yes to the following questions:

• Do you have an offer to study law (known as the LLB) at Abertay University starting in the coming year?
  • If you have a conditional offer, we recommend you apply for the bursary, but the offer of the bursary is conditional on you receiving an offer of a place on Abertay's LLB course.
• Do your circumstances mean you would be unable to attend university due to your financial situation?
• Are you currently at school or college, or have left school/college within the last two years (but not currently attending university).
• Is this your first university degree?

Once you submit your application, all of the information provided will be considered before a decision is made.
