Abertay links with armed forces bomb disposal experts

Students from Abertay鈥檚 Forensic Science programme got exclusive access to a lecture and live demonstration from the British Army鈥檚 Bomb Disposal Unit.听

Including a classroom lecture and live explosives disposal demonstration, the session from 11 EOD Regiment: Royal Logistic Corps took place at the Ministry of Defence range at Barry Buddon, near Carnoustie.听

A series of live detonations were carried out under the safe control of squadron members, followed by a forensic post bomb scene exercise where students were tasked with searching for and recovering evidence relevant to improvised explosive devices.听听听听

Neil Coupar, a lecturer from Abertay's School of Applied Sciences said: 鈥淎bertay is the only university in Scotland with an established link to the Bomb Disposal Squadron based in Edinburgh and this offers our students an experience that money can鈥檛 buy.''听
