MSc Psychology
After I originally graduated in 2015 I worked as a manager in hospitality. After 3-and-a-half-years I decided that I wanted to do something different. I spent a lot of time researching online to decide what I wanted to do next and when I found the option of MSc Psychology at Abertay, I knew it had modules in it I'd love to learn.
At that time I wasn鈥檛 sure what I wanted to do with my master's degree, but I hoped that by studying something I enjoyed, I鈥檇 end up with a career I enjoyed.

I was nervous. I was giving up my salary and a proper job to become a student! I was also worried that I might not be academic enough. Thankfully I鈥檓 graduating with a First, so it鈥檚 worked out.
I鈥檓 very happy and excited for the next steps in my life. It鈥檒l be a great day, and a lot of people in my family are coming along to celebrate. I鈥檓 the first person in my family to get a Masters, so I鈥檒l get a second photo on my gran鈥檚 wall!
I鈥檓 now a User Experience Consultant. For my final university project I chose to work with a finance company in Edinburgh. I carried out usability testing on a new online product of theirs and looked at how the user experienced the product using eye trackers and interviews. This made me realise that I wanted to move into the area of UX as a career.
I wanted to keep my skills in Dundee, and ended up working with the university to figure out how I could do this by myself. My supervisor, Ken Scott-Brown, hooked me up with Bell Street Ventures here at Abertay and they welcomed me with open arms. 聽 聽
Very, very helpful. I鈥檝e got work now and it鈥檚 all because I鈥檓 in that space. There are always lots of people looking to set up businesses dropping by, meaning there are lots of opportunities for collaboration.
The support of Simon Fraser and the team at Bell Street Ventures, the Psychology Department and the university in general has been fantastic. 聽
