Can Eye-Tracking be Used to Improve Current LOD Systems

LOD techniques are currently calculated with the distance from the camera determining the quality of meshes used for models. However, this doesn't account for where the user is looking. Human peripheral vision is not very good, and we could be wasting resources by rendering expensive objects when the user isn't even looking at them. By using eye-tracking technology to pinpoint where the user is looking, a new algorithm is designed to determine what level of LOD should be used, and this is tested to see if it performs faster than standard camera-based LOD.
