Isometric Mythology Design

Through the use of 3D Design, this research project sought to understand the creation and development of immersive 3D worlds.

Following the 鈥淟ost Paradise鈥 theme common in many mythologies I focused mainly on two lost cities.

Atlantis which is well known in the western world as the Greek city that was lost in the sea. Though it is mentioned only twice in Plato鈥檚 dialogues, it has fascinated the world ever since.

Ubar, known as 鈥業ram of the Pillars鈥, 鈥楥ity of the Pillars鈥 and even 鈥楾he Atlantis of the Sands鈥, is mentioned in the Quran, which states it was destroyed by a natural disaster or as a punishment by God. The city remains one of the Middle East's greatest mysteries.

Isometric Mythology Design

My project is two isometric 3D designs based on two legendary lost cities whose stories are well known in popular mythology: Atlantis and Ubar (aka ‘The Atlantis of the Sands’).

Motivation

This subject is something that has fascinated me for a long time, how many different countries have mythology with similar themes from thousands of years ago, having had little to no contact. These links between us make for an interesting subject, and with my own skill in 3D I can create a visual story of these myths, a little bite sized rendering of my interpretation.
